Ours was a Humble Night Garden to Begin With

A garden to enjoy at night was the plan. The blooms need to be white or at least light-colored so they can still be seen in spite of the darkness of the evening. The blooms should exude some fragrance to satisfy the nose. Add some seating, and voila, we have a garden paradise that we can enjoy even in the evening, a pleasant hideaway at night after a hard day at work.

We have designed our garden for maximum enjoyment during summer since we're at home most of the time during summer. Coincidentally, we also realize most plants bloom in summer. And most plants peak in summer, unlike in other seasons when we struggle to have a very beautiful garden.

The array of colors and the variety of the sizes and types of the bloom seem unlimited during summer. And plants extend their presence upward and sideways. So the parade of blooms and the fullness of the foliage make us think the garden is an eternal Eden - until the cold night air by September brings both the gardeners and the plants back to reality: that in nature there are beginnings and there are endings. Our gardens, not exempted.
